As a Charlottesville wedding photographer my favorite location to visit for epic adventure weddings is Shenandoah National Park! There really is nothing quite like this National Park. From the cascading waterfalls, stunning mountain views, lush woods and valleys of wildflowers. Everything about a Shenandoah National Park wedding is enchanting. If I haven’t convinced you yet, let me share all of my favorite things about this stunning wedding location!
Shenandoah National Park is just 75 miles southwest of the hustle and bustle of Washington D.C. and just about 40 minutes to an hour north of Charlottesville. It is amazing how close this location is to large urban cities, yet how perfectly reserved and serene it is. Not to mention, the variety of landscapes and venue options you have for your Shenandoah National Park wedding! From caves to waterfalls, large celebratory venues to intimate mountain ceremonies. Shenandoah National Park has it all!
You will find the most stunning mountain backdrops for your wedding day in Shenandoah National Park. And if you are looking for a more adventurous wedding day, outside of a wedding venue and into the woods and mountains of the park, then you will need to consider the National Parks rules and regulations. A special use permit is required for any gathering with over 15 participants. And with your event, whether it requires a permit or not, you will need to refer to these special conditions to ensure you respect the regulations put in place to preserve this national beauty!
