The State Arboretum Of Virginia is an engagement photo location that always delivers! Between the trails featuring native trees to the courtyard with old-world charm. As a Charlottesville wedding photographer I absolutely adore this spot for all of its charm and convenience! Here is what to expect at Blandy Experimental Farm at the State Arboretum Of Virginia.
The State Arboretum Of Virginia is just over an hour north of Harrisonburg, and about an hour and a half west of Washington DC. It is operated by the University of Virginia as part of the Blandy Experimental Farm. And is open from dawn to dusk for the public to enjoy!
I love this location for the natural beauty it offers, as well as the charm of Virginia it holds. Subtle hills, thick woods, shrubbery, and gorgeous colors throughout the seasons. This is a Northern Virginia dream! It also offers unique backdrops with historic buildings, a courtyard and trails. Perfect for an engagement session!
It was such a treat to take Ale and Jack to the State Arboretum of Virginia! I photographed their engagement photos here in December, so we did get a touch of holiday decor during our session.
This spot was perfect for my couples as they have a real down-to-earth, warm, and adventurous vibe. Although it was winter, there was still plenty of green in the grass and shrubs to contrast the images. As well, the season complimented the couples earthy tone outfits and gave stunning backdrops that weren’t distracting from the couple themselves.
As a Charlottesville photographer, I swear by this location! It is great for engagement photos, family portraits, and even bridals. If you feel like you can see yourself smiling through the woods and exploring the courtyard here, then reach out! Let’s book your session.
I think any of the Charlottesville photographers you run into will tell you that they love celebrating with their couples. And when I think of celebrating as a couple usually I think of engagement photos, pictures with a new pup, Charlottesville wedding photography, or even maternity pictures! However, couple graduation photos are another way to […]

Capturing engagement sessions in Shenandoah National Park is one of my favorite things to do as a Charlottesville wedding photographer.
