Hiking engagement sessions combine adventure and romance! They allow you to create meaningful moments while surrounded by the beauty of nature. Whether you’re strolling through wildflower-filled meadows, standing beside cascading waterfalls, or gazing over sweeping mountain views, these settings make for photos that feel organic and timeless. And in Shenandoah National Park, there’s no shortage of picture-perfect spots!
As a Charlottesville wedding photographer, I love getting into the National Park and taking my couples on adventurous explorations with stunning backdrops. However, finding the perfect hike for an engagement session can be the challenge of balancing beautiful peeks with ease of accessibility. Here are some of the top hiking trails in the park that are easy to navigate and perfect for capturing stunning engagement photos:
I could write an entire blog on this! But for today, I will just leave you with the highlights. Before anything else, coming the time of your session. I recommend that couples highly consider golden hour. This time of day offers the best lighting with a warm glow of a setting sun. In addition, when planning for the time to start your session, give yourself some extra time for travel or hiking. This will ensure that you get their on time and don’t miss the most beautiful hour of the day!
Of course, you want to dress up for your engagements, and I encourage that! Consider bringing a pair of shoes for your hike and then changing when you get to the location for your photos. You can also change your entire outfit once at the location to avoid getting sweaty and to feel fresh! For this, I also recommend bringing a little bag of makeup for touch-ups, some deodorant, and even wipes.
No matter the hike you choose, we will have an amazing time making memories and capturing your love story in the most adventurous way! Ready to have an adventure engagement session? Reach out, and I can recommend the hike that will work best for you!
