Capturing engagement sessions in Shenandoah National Park is one of my favorite things to do as a Charlottesville wedding photographer. There is something whimsical about the mountain views with fog rolling through the peaks and valleys. However, when planning what to wear in engagement photos in the mountains, you may need a few guiding tips.
I know a lot of easy and accessible hikes in Shenandoah for engagement photos. And even with the easiest hikes, I want you to think about wearing something comfortable and easy to move in. Because not only do you want to feel comfortable while walking to our location, but also while we are there!
If you are wearing something that is outside of your comfort zone, doesn’t fit right, or isn’t your style. Then chances are you will feel uncomfortable, which almost always shows in pictures. So save yourself and just wear something you love and makes you feel like yourself!
Shenandoah National Park engagement photos call for a little adventure! Which means it’s smart to wear closed toe shoes. Sneakers are best, as the lace ups help keep the shoe close to your foot preventing any dirt or grass from getting inside your shoes.
However, if you want to have a more elevated look with some cute sandals and heels we can make that work! In those cases I recommend you bring shoes for walking to the location and then changing into your cute heels once we get there. This way you get the best of both worlds!
Another tip for what to wear in engagement photos in Shenandoah is to dress for the season. This will help you stay comfortable with the weather, as well as give your engagement pictures a bit more personality. Bundle up in the winter months, or wear something flowy and fun in the summer!
