The State Arboretum Of Virginia is an engagement photo location that always delivers! Between the trails featuring native trees to the courtyard with old-world charm. As a Charlottesville wedding photographer I absolutely adore this spot for all of its charm and convenience! Here is what to expect at Blandy Experimental Farm at the State Arboretum Of Virginia.
The State Arboretum Of Virginia is just over an hour north of Harrisonburg, and about an hour and a half west of Washington DC. It is operated by the University of Virginia as part of the Blandy Experimental Farm. And is open from dawn to dusk for the public to enjoy!
I love this location for the natural beauty it offers, as well as the charm of Virginia it holds. Subtle hills, thick woods, shrubbery, and gorgeous colors throughout the seasons. This is a Northern Virginia dream! It also offers unique backdrops with historic buildings, a courtyard and trails. Perfect for an engagement session!
It was such a treat to take Ale and Jack to the State Arboretum of Virginia! I photographed their engagement photos here in December, so we did get a touch of holiday decor during our session.
This spot was perfect for my couples as they have a real down-to-earth, warm, and adventurous vibe. Although it was winter, there was still plenty of green in the grass and shrubs to contrast the images. As well, the season complimented the couples earthy tone outfits and gave stunning backdrops that weren’t distracting from the couple themselves.
As a Charlottesville photographer, I swear by this location! It is great for engagement photos, family portraits, and even bridals. If you feel like you can see yourself smiling through the woods and exploring the courtyard here, then reach out! Let’s book your session.
I love the adventure and whimsy of living in the mountains. So when I get to capture that magic while documenting momentous events in your life, I am beyond thrilled! It was a foggy and wet day for Hannah and Jake’s maternity photos in Shenandoah National Park, which made this session uniquely beautiful. I’m excited […]
Tis the season for couple Christmas photos! As a Virginia wedding photographer, I have found that this time of year is popular for engagement and proposal photos. However, in recent years, Christmas photos for couples have become more popular, which I love! Recently, I had a session with Jasmin, Marco and their new pup that […]

When it comes to breathtaking backdrops for engagement photos, Shenandoah National Park offers something truly magical! Nestled in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, this park is a dream for couples who love the outdoors and want nature to play a starring role in their love story. With its sprawling vistas, cascading waterfalls, and endless […]
In Stanley, Virginia, there is a darling valley filled with cabins to rent and even a wedding venue for upscale private events. It has a very exclusive vibe and is a coveted Shenandoah National Park wedding venue. When Rachel and Brendan hired me as their Charlottesville wedding photographer, I was thrilled to finally get to […]
Ale and Jack had the most romantic boho-chic wedding at the Fox Meadow Barn. I was honored to be their Charlottesville wedding photographer and to get to capture such a stunning venue. While there, I learned that this venue is rather new in the area and deserves a shout-out to bring more couples their way! […]
